These areas are vulnerable to droughts, floods, and pollution, and are losing soil carbon and biodiversity. These problems are worsening with ongoing climate change. Therefore, a rigorous transformation towards more resilient landscapes facilitated by robust water systems is required, but how to achieve this remains unclear.
