RESHAPE

Sand landscapes cover more than half of the Netherlands. These areas are vulnerable to droughts, floods, and pollution, and are losing soil carbon and biodiversity. These problems are worsening with ongoing climate change. Therefore, a rigorous transformation towards more resilient landscapes facilitated by robust water systems is required, but how to achieve this remains unclear. In the project Nature-inspired water system solutions for RESilient DutcH sand landscAPEs (RESHAPE) we study how we can transform the Dutch sand landscape to better balance ecosystem services and provide resilience to climate change.

The RESHAPE research program is a NWO Funded Project (2023-2028) and is carried out by a consortium of universities, research institutes, and partners in the Netherlands.
