Hi, I am Zina, a PhD candidate at Wageningen University. I have a background in Hydrology and Geo-Information Science. Before starting my PhD, I worked as an operational hydrologist at Nelen & Schuurmans.
Through my previous experience, I have developed a strong understanding of Dutch water management and gained technical expertise on the functioning of water systems. Within RESHAPE, my research focuses on supporting spatial planning processes for designing resilient water systems, integrating the knowledge generated by fellow researchers in the project.
I will investigate how measures can be optimally positioned within the landscape to restore catchment-scale processes. I am especially interested in hydrology-driven spatial planning approaches that combine an understanding of the hydrological system with stakeholder needs, alongside the dominant processes involved in making spatial decisions. aiming to develop solutions that effectively address real-world challenges.
